Antique VASELINE URANIUM Glass Door Knobs ~

I decided to create this listing because I've noticed several sellers advertise "Vaseline" or "Uranium" door knobs and show a picture of them glowing under a black light. I've been in the business of restoring antique door knobs, hardware, and light fixtures for years, and know that a lot of antique glass knobs, and antique glass for that matter, will fluoresce under a blacklight, but that DOES NOT mean they are "vaseline" glass, nor does it mean they are "uranium" glass. In fact they are what we in the business call plain old antique glass door knobs. I took some of my standard antique glass knobs and put them under a blacklight for you to see that yes they do glow under a blacklight. They are shown in the pictures. I have informed the sellers of this and yet they continue to sell them as "vaseline" or "uranium" knobs in hopes to get more money by duping the buyer. For that reason I decided to make my own listing to inform buyers and sellers alike. There are two things to keep in mind. First, real vaseline glass is YELLOW GREEN in color in normal light, and will glow green VERY brightly under a black light. Second there are several compounds that can cause glass to glow under a blacklight, not just uranium! There are antique green depression glass door knobs which are rare and more valuable, but they are green in regular light and glow brightly under a black light. Hope this helps some people and remember if you want to buy antique glass door knobs that glow slightly under a black light, just buy my high quality refurbished antique glass door knobs!
