ITEM DESCRIPTION: New door locks(both), trunk lock & glove box lock with original "Ribbed" lock caps, 2 original GM pearhead keys, lock retainers & gaskets. This lock kit includes the "U" pawls for the door locks. This is for 1955, 1956 & 1957 Chevrolet passenger cars that have the U-Shape pawl on the door locks. This WILL NOT FIT Chevrolet models that have the flat pawl on the door locks. PLEASE NOTE: CHECK YOUR EXISTING DOOR LOCKS TO SEE WHICH PAWLS YOU HAVE. SPECIAL NOTE: The "Pawl" is the small bracket which attaches to the end of the door lock cylinders. The pawl is what actually reaches in & trips the latch for the door to unlock. In 1955 thru 1957 two completely different pawls were installed according to body style( the "U" shape pawl is the most common & the "Flat" egg shaped pawl) The higher located body side moldings on some 1956 models forced GM to move the door lock cylinders higher up on the door. This is why on some 1956 models used the "Flat" pawl. Please see my store for the door lock kits that have the "Flat" pawl.
